Protestant and catholic churches in East Germany have accepted the challenge of mission. Both evangelistic spirituality and a mixed economy ofpluralist approaches to the mission target are necessary in this post-christendom context. There is a special need to foster the personal capacities of Christians to be witnesses of faith in their surroundings. The Anglican Emmaus nurture courses seem to be an adequate tool for congregations to help adults to experience the benefits of the Gospel and to begin a new biography of faith.
