In 1968 the communist political forces blew up the Leipzig historical university church building. The article describes the debated decision to rebuild the building for academic as well as religious purposes as part of the new university campus. It follows the ongoing disputes on details of interior architecture as they are articulated in newspaper letters to the editor. Contrasting logics and premises on what this building project to be completed in 2010 actually means, are detected.
