Wahrnehmung von Religionen aus theologischer Perspektive zur Grundlegung einer protestantischen Theologie der Religionen

One of the central problems of a contemporary theology of religion is the relation between one's own religious identity and the recognition of religious otherness. In this essay, the author argues that a model of theology of religion which starts from the Protestant concept of faith is aconstructive alternative to the problems of the actual discussion of theology of religion. The Protestant concept of faith implies a logic of recognition. From the perspective of the Protestant faith, the own and the other are the two sides of self-identity. The other is a part of the own. In the light of this model, a theology of religion is possible as a hermeneutic of difference, leading to a better understanding of the Christian religion in contrast to other religions. Such a theology of religion must be grounded in science of religion and in a philosophy of religion and is an alternative to an enlightened or mutual inclusivism and to the approaches of comparative theology.
