Gott, Gottesbilder, interreligiöse Ökumene im Namen Abrahams wider die Konfessionalisierung der Religionen im Zeichen einer "abrahamischen Ökumene"

Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have often been seen as three religious communities with the same root, Abraham, witnessing within one humanity to the One God in different ways. The family metaphor views the three religions as three branches of one monotheistic revelation. From the perspective of a theology of religions, the approach of the so-called "Abrahamitic Ecumenism" (Abrahamische Ökumene) results in a "denominationalisation" (Konfessionalisierung) of the three religions. The paper presents and discusses recent instances of the reception of this concept within the framework of Christian-Muslim dialogue in Germany, including aspects like "trialogue" and different concepts of God. It discloses and criticises the reductionist procedure of the "Abrahamic" approach on grounds of historical, epistemological, and theological reflections. It intends to show that tolerance and respect do not demand harmonisation but, on the contrary, unfold best when dealing with differences respectfully.f the Torah as a way to salvation.
