This article deals with the reception of the Final Judgment (Matthew 25:31-46) in the German Hymnal "Evangelisches Gesangbuch"(EG). It shows the functions that the idea of the Final Judgment has in the various songs: Admonition and threat, but also hope and consolation, because the judge is the Son of Man, the risen Christ himself.
