The message of justification sola fide proves to be an appropriate hermeneutical key even if it is carried over into the Old Testament from the outside. Both the concept of orderliness in nature and in society created by God's righteousness and the problem of God's righteousness, rendered more acute by the historical catastrophes in Israel and Juda and seen in the context of a developing faith in the one God, are open to the justifying actions of God.
