Mystical religious experiences can be understood as experiences of presence in a dual meaning. In terms of content, they are experiences of the presence of God. In terms of form, however, they are viewed as an enhanced and simultaneously fleeting experience of presence. In the first case, "presence" denotes a consciously perceived relationship, whereas in the second it refers to a specific quality of the experience of time and self. The articlc examines the relationship existing between presence es a specific form of experience, the faithful consciousness of the presence of God and mystical experience. It presents the thesis that in mystical faith experiences both the consciousness of the hidden presence of God, which is characteristic of Christian faith presence, and the experience of fulfilled presence are intensified.
