This contribution analyzes the reform processes taking place in the regional churches of North Elbia, Middle Germany and Württemberg since the beginning of the 1990s. Evidence is based on interviews that have been conducted with church leaders in the individual regional churches. The essay sketches the different starting position of the regional churches as well as the striking similarities of the various reform processes. These common features are named in five theses: among them are the triggers of the processes, the shift of goals, the role of the media, the nature of the reforms and the areas of tension during the interviews. The final part interprets the results.
