The phenomenological sociology does the same in effect - unconsciously - as pastoral care: In its interpretations it presupposes a context, in which people encounter experiences of transcendence which almost automatically lead to religious forms. The task of a sociology of religions should not be, however, a continuation of religious practice, but its analysis.
