As never before Christianity today is a world religion. Looking for a turning point in this process of inner Christian globalization, this conference stands out as the culmination of the missionary movement of the 19th century and as starting point of the ecumenical movement of the 20th century. At the same time, however, and in an unprecedented way, Edinburgh also reacted to developments and debates in the Churches of the Southern hemisphere.
