Neu "Entsetzliche Speculationen"? Überlegungen zur Argumentationslogik in Luthers Abendmahlslehre
Zeitschriftenartikel

Harnack called Luther's considerations on the presence of the exalted Christ in the Eucharist just "horrific speculations" by which Lutheranism was unable to escape the Middle Ages for centuries. However, it is Luther's very attempt to articulate the real presence also of Christ's human nature conceptually (in the theorems of ubiquity and the communication of properties), that has recently met much theological interest. This contribution first identifies Luther's guiding motives and then traces the rational structure of his argument. Finally it emphasizes that, even if Luther's solution does not convince in every respect, the conceptual explication of the "real presence" remains a lasting theological and ecumenical task.
