In this article commemorating Rudolf Bohren (1920 - 2010), the author concludes, in agreement with Bohren, that the future of the church in Germany will be a transformation to the local church as a communion in the Spirit. Current structures and traditions of the people's church ("Volkskirche") and the strategic reform measures of the regional headquarters of the confessional denominations ("Landeskirche"), however, will not prevail.
