Ethical reflections on same-sex life forms are based on basic rights such as human dignity, the right to self-determination, the right to respect for private and family life and the principle of equality. Within the context of same-sex parental households with children as well as planned lesbian families priority should be given to the welfare of the children involved. The above article considers relevant legislation, church statements, adoption law as well as questions pertaining to reproductive medicine. In Germany, legal policy makers are faced with the task of improving legal certainty for same-sex parental households.
