Alttestamentliche Hermeneutik ist mit der Frage konfrontiert, welches Verhältnis zwischen dem Gott Israels und den Göttern in den Religionen seiner Umwelt besteht (vgl. Dtn 4,19; Mi 4,5). Mit Bezug auf die Rezeption der Bibel bei G. J. Vossius und G. E. Lessing läßt sich zeigen, daß es bei dem Verhältnis von partikularen Religionskulturen zur Wirklichkeit Gottes des Schöpfers um die Grenzen religiöser Sprache geht. Psalm 19 ist ein Beispiel für die Reflexion auf diese Grenzen.
Old Testament hermeneutics has been faced with the question of the relationship between the God of Israel and the gods in the religions of the world surrounding Israel (cf Deut. 4:19; Mic. 4:5). Referring to the reception of the Bible in the works of G. J. Vossius and G. E. Lessing, the author shows that the real issue in the relationship between particular religious cultures and the reality of God the creator concerns the boundaries of religious language. Psalm 19 is an example of a reflection upon these boundaries.
