This contribution surveys recent developments in Catholic dogmatics. lt treats the following approaches and themes: 1. The theological reception of the transcendental idea of freedom (Thomas Pröpper); 2. a theology of >Alterity< inspired by the philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas which plays an important role in Jewish-Christian dialogue (Josef Wohlmuth et al); 3. >Poetic dogmatics< which unfolds Christian theology in terms of commentaries on liturgy and art (Alex Stock); 4. current discussions on the critique of Monotheism, the Trinity, and religious pluralism as well as 5. the dramatic teaching of salvation (Raymund, Schwager et al) which builds on Rene Girard's mimetic theory of power. Final remarks concern open problems and further tasks.
