Heilung als Thema der Theologie
Zeitschriftenartikel

The article begins with a brief historical assessment of previous treatments of the topic of healing in theological studies. Well into the recent past, this history has proven to be one of neglect, even though healing is an explicitly biblical, above all New Testament topos. The wide-ranging second section provides an overview, organised by discipline, of the most important recent German-language theological literature, i.e. titles pertaining to this topic which have appeared since 1970, while a rough theological interpretation of healing is the subject of the third and concluding section. This interpretation illustrates that a conscientious examination of healing challenges scholars to draw upon the entire repertoire of conventional theology, since the doctrines of Creation and Revelation are just as significant as those of anthropology, soteriology, pneumatology, ecclesiology and eschatology.
