Some Remarks Following Insights from Paul Tillich. Elements of nature spirituality involved in this trend in funeral practice have often been interpreted as contradicting the Christian view. However, Paul Tillich's systematic theology encourages us to detect bridges between nature experiences and biblical God-experiences. Also Christian faith works with symbols which intermediate between the all-encompassing otherness of God and the variety of human symbol productions. Plural convictions of individuals and distinctive confessional teachings of churches can be put in a constructive interrelation, and arguments for as well as against the new funeral practice can be discussed.
