Daß für den Menschen die Welt als Kunstwerk Gottes gelten kann, darin sind sich I. Kant und F. Schleiermacher einig. Doch sind nicht nur ihre diesbezüglichen anthropologischen und theologischen Voraussetzungen grundlegend verschieden, auch den Ausdruck "Kunstwerk" verwenden sie gemäß ihren ästhetischen Theorien in ganz unterschiedlicher Weise. Dadurch, daß ihre jeweilige ästhetische Sicht der Welt auf ihre Prämissen hin untersucht wird, wird nicht nur das bei Kant und Schleiermacher differente Verständnis von Freiheit und ewigem Leben, sondern auch der kontrastreiche Umgang mit dem Übel in der Welt deutlich.
I. Kant and F. Schleiermacher agreed that for human beings the world can be regarded as God's work of art. However their anthropological and theological premises in this respect differ greatly, as does the way they use the term 'work of art' according to their aesthetic theories. By examining each of their aesthetic perceptions of the word for its premises, the author shows that there is a different understanding of freedom and eternal life in the works of Kant and Schleiermacher and that there are many contrasting ways of dealing with evil in the world.
