Firmung und Konfirmation werden als pragender Segen vorgestellt. Dafür wird eine erneuerte Theologie des Segens als alttestamentliches Sakrament und Gottes besonderer Weg zum Menschen entwickelt. So verstanden bleibt Platz für einen Firmweg, der mit der Taufe beginnt, verschiedene Höhepunkte hat, u. a. in der Feier der Confirmatio im Jugendalter, und ein Leben lang weiter geht.
Catholic and Protestant confirmation is introduced as forming blessing. A renewed theology shows this blessing as an old-testamentary sacrament and as God's specific approach to human beings. The celebration of confirmation is one of the stations on a confirming way initiated by baptism and giving many highlights throughout a person's life.
