Mehr Grauzonen als erwünscht? Einige Aspekte zum Judentumsbild in Bonhoeffers Theologie
Zeitschriftenartikel

This paper demonstrates Bonhoeffer's ambivalent stance on Judaism as it is expressed in two texts from 1933 and 1937. To be sure, Bonhoeffer, depicting the Old Testament and Jewish Christianity as ecclesiologically indispensable, positions himself against the agenda of "Dejudaizing" the Church. However, his concept of Jewish Christianity as a crucial part of the Church contains anti-Judaistic elements. Both texts illustrate that Bonhoeffer understands Judaism solely in its meaning and function for the Church. A Judaism which remains outside the Church is theologically conceivable only in terms of reprobation and gracious preservation as a cautionary tale for Christianity.
