The role of the undertaker has changed from the craftsman building the coffin to a professional provider of services reaching to all the processes around funerals according to the wishes of the clients. Thus, specific pastoral competence in liturgy and counseling must be seen in a closer relation to the undertaker's work; there is potential for conflict as well as for cooperation.
