Identity develops in the interchange of inner self-experience and social ascriptions. Thus in the case of transgender identity, inside and outside are full of tension. Individuals heavily suffer not only from gender incongruence, but also from the lack of social acceptance. The culture of cis-gender is a special impediment to any construction of one's identity beyond social norm(s). It stigmatizes transidentic people as abnormal. Pastoral care communicates differently: It originates in a basic attitude of esteem and forms an exonerative counterculture that appreciates the diversity of creation. The sensitive use of language proves as crucial pastoral element. Contrary to the cultural elimination of transgender people, the language of diversity communicates esteem and opens up to a new self-conscience: I am not invisible, I will be seen.
