Neu Odil Hannes Steck und seine Arbeiten über das Alte Testament
Zeitschriftenartikel

Odil Hannes Steck's publications an Old Testament Prophecy amount to the most important contributions on this subject in the last twenty years. Steck was second to none in understanding. His view of the retrospective character of the written record of Isaiah in Isaiah 6-8, the so-called Isaiah memorandum; his discovery of Isaiah 35 as the Bridge text between Isaiah parts one and two; and his Trito-Isaiah hypothesis, are milestones in modern research an Isaiah and the Prophets as such. These true-to-detail text observations, coupled with an astonishing power of synthesis are part of a massive corpus of writing produced by this scholar who died on 30 March 2001. It includes not only the Prophets, but also Ecclesiastes, the Psalms, and biblical history in general, but also the effects of the biblical tradition in the writings of the Hellenic and Roman period including Qumran.
