In Protestant understandings, academic theology has always been considered an important part of church leadership. Nevertheless, from the perspective of church leadership a more practice-focused orientation in university theology is desirable. The article looks at what formats of interaction between practice and theory in the work of church leadership are productive and how they can be intensified.
