Produktive Irritationen das Leitbild des Gerechten Friedens und die interdisziplinäre Versöhnungsforschung im Gespräch
Zeitschriftenartikel

By bringing two peace theoretical approaches, the Just Peace model and the Reconciliation Studies approach, into conversation, the article systematically identifies convergences, divergences, and mutually productive irritations. The analysis shows that the Reconciliation Studies approach needs to define its relationship to violence more deeply and could seek dialogue with the "ethics of law-preserving violence" of the Just Peace model. Conversely, the Just Peace model could be irritated by Reconciliation Studies by focusing more on processes not only of peacemaking but also of peacebuilding, and by seeking to link conceptually not only to international institutions but also to local peace actors and traditions. Reconciliation Studies take into account irritating epistemologies that criticize the UN and international institutions as peace actors, which calls for deeper reflection on the role that can be attributed to the UN and international institutions in peace processes and indicates the need for context-sensitive operationalizations of the Just Peace model.
