As a branch of practical theology, religious education has been largely consolidated in the past two decades. However, its perspectives are quite doubtful in the face of the open future of religious instruction in schools. To shape this future, it will be necessary to develop a religion theory which is compatible with education, in order to raise the profile of the discipline's proprium in the ensemble of curriculum subjects. In this regard, theological teacher training needs a more fundamental theological orientation.
