This research report summarizes recent developments in the field of German speaking (theory of) Religious Education, especially along die five methodical sets (empirical, historical, systematic, comparative and didactic) which comprise die toolbox of the discipline. Among them especially die empirical one has seen a revival. The report stresses methodological specialisation, thematical continuity and international networking as die main factors and indicators of an increasing stature of Religious Education within academic Theology.
