The famous passage in the introduction to Luther's New Testament translation of 1522 shows: a specific perspective of the subject's perception in the context of the times is applied. Taking this seriously, of the Lutheran exclusive particles "faith alone" has to be reconstructed as the one in the primary position followed by "grace alone", then "Scripture alone" and then "Christ alone". What was perceived by Luther as essential in the Bible and for Christianity in his times needs to be open to interpretation, to critique and construction by Lutheran theology today.
