We are living in a society which becomes more and more heterogeneous in its foundations. This is due to demographic developments, growing social inequality, and migration. Of the named factors migration probably has the greatest influence on the diversification process. Social cohesion in this society of immigration cannot be granted only through the tenor of tolerance. The notion of tolerance inherits the problematic of asymmetries, which conflict equal cohabitation in a social democratic state in its principle. Foundations and boundaries of politics of recognition are die values of die Constitution und of the Human Rights.
