Recently, also gender studies about men have been discussed in practical theology. The specifics of being a father, however, have not yet been studied in depth. The Hebrew Bible shows how experiences of family relations influence the metaphors about the relationship between God and humans, and vice versa the theological insights have resonances in the family interaction. The church may provide a space for fathers to discuss with each other their father roles in family and society, and what being a father does to their faith.
