Church and Theology focus on scientific models such as the ecological equilibrium or the theory of self-organization and their spiritual implications to pointout the meaning of »creation«. But the high degree of abstraction does not allow a synthesis of theories and faith. Therefore, the article argues for the primacy of experiences. To sharpen the task of theology, we have to ask for the symbolic meaning of ecology related arts, poetry and technology as expressions of freedom instead of making creation an aspect of the causal nexus of sciences.
