Parishes are related to their vicinity - the city quarter or the village. From the current discourse of social sciences and philosophy about a "spatial turn" this obvious impression appears in a new light: "social space orientation" has become a programmatic and fundamental term in cultural sciences which denotes multilayered localities as social constructions created by the subjects. Thus, church activities can be viewed and developed as participating in learning processes within the local community.
