As the centenary of his birthday in Oct 2003 approaches the authors remind us of the life and work of Hermann Cremer. He was the head of the so called "Greifswald School": the theological faculty in the small city of Greifswald (northeast Germany) became a "positive" faculty which intended to provide an alternative to liberal theology and liberal theological education.
