The year 2000 saw the 125th issue of the Theologische Literaturzeitung. The occasion was marked by a conference organized by the Faculty of Theology at Leipzig University. After a short introduction on the framework and function of the journal, an overview of the history of the ThLZ between 1900 and 1965 was given. In addition, a selection of reviews followed which reflected nineteenth-century historicism (Adolf v. Harnack) and new tendencies, namely: Religious Studies (Rudolf Otto), Luther Renaissance (Karl Holl), Dialectical Theology (Karl Barth), and Demythologization (Rudolf Bultmann), and finally Non-Religious Interpretation (Dietrich Bonhoeffer) as well as the new discussion about a non-theistic interpretation of talk about God (John A. T. Robinson).
