Das Berliner Modell religiöser Kompetenz fachspezifisch - testbar - anschlussfähig
Zeitschriftenaufsatz

Ever since the international comparative assessments of student competencies in largescale studies like PISA and TIMSS, the German Pedagogy of Religion has been concerned with the development of religious literacy models on which base educational standards are to be defined. The Berliner Model of religious competence is the first German project to map out an inter-disciplinary framework of religious competence that is empirically validated. On this theoretical background it was possible empirically to conceive and develop a valid test instrument for assessing previously theoretically defined religious competencies. After presenting the theoretical concept of the Berliner Model this paper proceeds with a detailed information about the empirical methods used in the validation study. In a third step, the question, how the theoretically defined concept could be empirically assessed, is explicitly addressed by a concrete example from the test. This is followed by a brief presentation of some of the results of the empirical study. Finally the paper concludes with a discussion of other existing models and their relation to the here introduced Berliner concept.
