Der Beitrag bilanziert die Entwicklung schulkulturtheoretischer Positionen vom normativen Verständnis zum "cultural turn" in der Schultheorie. Im Zentrum steht der Entwurf einer Theorie der Schulkultur, in der Schulen als symbolische Ordnungen von Diskursen, Interakten, Praktiken und Artefakten in der Spannung von Imaginärem, Symbolischem und Realem gefasst werden. Schulkulturen erscheinen als Ordnungen pädagogischen Sinns, die durch die Akteure der Einzelschule in der Auseinandersetzung mit Sinnstrukturen höherer Ordnung handelnd konstituiert und transformiert werden. In den Anerkennungskämpfen der schulischen Akteure ergeben sich dominante Sinnordnungen, in denen jeweils exzellente, tolerable, marginalisierte und tabuisierte kulturelle Entwürfe und Praktiken enthalten sind. Sie korrespondieren mit milieuspezifischen Habitusformen und stellen für Heranwachsende Passungsverhältnisse zwischen Homologie und Abstoßung her. Das wird am Beispiel eines Gymnasiums exemplarisch verdeutlicht.
The author assesses the development of different positions taken with regard to the theory of school culture, ranging from a normative understanding to the cultural turn in school theory. The focus is on the outline of a theory of school culture which views schools as symbolic orders of discourses, interactions, practices, and arte facts, influenced by the tension between the imaginary, the symbolic, and the real. School cultures appear as orders of pedagogical meaning, constituted and transformed by the agents of the individual school in their examination of structures of meaning of a higher order. In the school agents battle for recognition dominant orders of meaning emerge which each contain excellent, tolerable, marginalized, and tabooed cultural concepts and practices. They correspond with background-specific dispositions and create niches between homology and repulsion for adolescents to fit in. This is illustrated by looking at one specific secondary school (Gymnasium).
