The words "Zachor!" - "Bring to mind!" and "Iqra" - "Repeat!" help to give an understanding of the "Holy Scriptures" of Judaism and Islam. They illustrate that the Torah and the Quran are not to be read, heard and understood in the same way. This is how they preserve their individual character. The Torah commands the "presentation" of its contents which is impossible for the Quran. The Quran commands the repetition of its contents which is impossible for the Torah. Both "Holy Scriptures", however, use different ways to call for a realization of their contents through ethical action which coincides in all basic principles and is therefore suitable to cause peace and religion among the people.
